Yoga Fundamentals (offered periodically as a Workshop)
A wonderful interactive class designed for those new to yoga or who would like to revisit the fundamentals. Blocks of five sessions are recommended before advancing to other classes. These one hour sessions provide a foundation of basic yoga principles, poses, and alignment, including breath work and meditation.

yoga Yoga I
Yoga I begins the exploration of your yogic journey through classic yoga poses, breath work, and focuses on increasing flexibility, strength, and concentration. Designed for beginners with experience in basic yoga poses. Includes standing, balancing, and seated poses. Our Yoga Fundamentals series is recommended for those new to yoga and before advancing to our passcard classes.

Yoga I/II
For continuing students who have completed Yoga I or who have prior yoga experience. This class refines basic poses and introduces more advanced postures. Students will deepen their awareness of the breath, and meditation techniques. Emphasis is placed on building strength and endurance for a deeper practice.

Yoga II
Designed for students who have completed Yoga I/II or equivalent courses. Introduces strengthening preparations for inversions and focuses on refining the revolved and standing poses.

Mixed Levels Yoga
Our mixed level class is a well rounded class appropriate for Yoga I through Yoga II students. Refreshing and invigorating, this class enables you to experience the wisdom, strength and grace of your body while playing your own personal edge. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace as you explore flows of movement linked with breath, classical yoga postures and creative variations. Modifications for beginners and options for advanced practitioners are provided throughout the class.

Gentle Yoga and Relaxation
Gentle and restorative postures combined with breath work and guided relaxation make this an ideal class for beginners and those desiring a more relaxing yoga experience. Suitable for those with health concerns or challenges. Poses are modified to enhance each student's experience of increasing body awareness, flexibility and strength. This class is designed to help reduce stress and re-energize the body in a safe and supportive environment.

Kundalini
Kundalini yoga consists of ancient kriyas, or specifically formulated sets of yogic exercises. Each kriya, or yoga set is designed to target specific body parts or systems. This ancient form of yoga utilizes rhythmic and vigorous movements synchronized with breath to generate energy, endurance, and concentration. Breath work and chanting cleanses and focuses the emotions, mind, and body. Kundalini is most noted for building physical and mental endurance and strengthening the nervous system.

Beginner's Flow
A beginner's vinyasa flow class introducing the fundamentals of flow yoga. Challenges your strength, flexibility and endurance while allowing you to explore the linked power of breath and movement. All levels welcome!

Moving Meditation
Take some time with us to improve your flexibility, balance, peace of mind and overall health. Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, and Meditation flow together seamlessly. From Yoga we have gentle stretching and breathing techniques. From Tai Chi we draw flowing movement. From Qigong we obtain strengthening of internal energy. With Meditation we are able to cultivate stillness. All together this is a way to develop a healthy body, peaceful heart, and focused mind. Blue Heron moving meditation is good for everyone, regardless of age or state of health, and we want no one to be excluded because of money. Cost is based upon ability to pay. We ask a donation of $10 per class if you can afford it, more if you can, less if necessary.

Power Flow
A class that challenges your strength, flexibility and endurance. Be prepared to sweat! Previous flow yoga experience suggested.

Yoga for Strength and Endurance
Enjoy a yoga practice designed to increase strength and enhance performance. This class utilizes asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing), to exercise the body, train the breath, and cultivate strength and awareness. This class is best suited for those with experience in classical yoga positions and those comfortable with inversions. Prepare to experience increased strength and flexibility of the body and mind. Our teacher, Matsimela Ajani, also links techniques and practices from his many years of experience in the martial arts to the practice of yoga.

Lunchbox Yoga
Escape your office for lunch and treat yourself to a 45 minute yoga class designed to both awaken and nourish your body and mind. These compact classes get your body moving and leave you feeling invigorated for the rest of your work day. Your workmates will wonder what you had for lunch!

Sunrise Yoga
Wake up with yoga and experience the effects throughout your entire day! This motivating class is open to all levels and focuses on creating an alert yet peaceful mind and a refreshed body. We will explore the peace of dawn with a short meditation and a gentle sequence to warm up the body. Based on hatha and vinyasa yoga styles we will flow into an invigorating sequence of postures to increase strength, flexibility, and breath awareness. Gentle adjustments and variations will be given so each student may find their own optimal alignment and progress at their own pace.

Pilates
Pilates is a system of exercises devised by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, which, when done consistently, results in better strength, flexibility, posture, and mental awareness. Rather than coming out of a workout feeling exhausted, this set of exercises, performed on the mat in a set order, results in a feeling of refreshment, and centeredness. Along with serving students new to Pilates, this class will also challenge the intermediate student, as you practice the details of the method and fine tune your technique.
