Thien Kim Pham, Painter
Thien-Kim was born in 1962 in South Vietnam. She studied Piano in the Saigon Conservatory
and taught piano at the age of 19. While pursuing her music carreer, Thien-Kim took several
art classes and worked with silk painting as a hobby.
Upon her arrival in the United Stated in 1991, she followed her dream of becoming an artist
and studied art at the Massachussetts College of Art in Boston, graduating in 1997 with a BA
in Graphic Design. Following a career as a successful graphic designer, in 2004, Thien-Kim
decided to become a full-time artist and has painted non-stop ever since at her home studio
in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Thien-Kim attributes the majority of her knowledge to the teachings of Master Painters
Robert Liberace and Sara Linda Poly.
Kim won several awards in the region. Her "HONEY MOON" painting was published in International Artist's 2005 edition of "One Hundred Ways to Paint People and Figures." Kim's favorite subjects are plein-air landscape, figure and portrait paintings as she enjoys capturing the beauty of nature and
the characters and complexity of the human form.
