Angelique Raptakis, a native of Silver Spring, has been an avid photographer for over eight years. Her primary interest is the natural world, with a focus on wildlife, flowers, insects, and the elements. She tries to capture the beauty in the world around us, particularly the commonplace that is easily overlooked; from the colors of the setting sun, to the intricate patterns in the eye of a butterfly, to the grace of a withering floral bloom. She believes beauty is everywhere once we fully open our eyes to it. Angelique has also been involved with corporate/event photography. Her photographs have been on display in many local galleries and private collections and have also won several photo contests and awards. Angelique is a volunteer photographer for the National Park Service
